HealthFacts Ng is an online media company that provides health and wellness information for Nigerians and Africans. We cover topics such as diseases, lifestyle, nutrition, research, news, and more. We also create health quizzes, stories, videos, and other engaging content on various health issues. HealthFacts Ng aims to empower people with accurate and relevant health information to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
Mission Statement
Addressing health-related misinformation by providing accurate health and wellness information in the simplest form possible.
Some of our programs include: Blog posts — articles, news, updates, interviews with health experts, and health-related quizzes.
- HealthFacts Live — a monthly event hosted live on Zoom, during which health professionals are invited to speak on health-related topics, and participants can ask questions. Past editions are available on YouTube.
- HealthAlerts — a periodic newsletter that updates subscribers on trending health information and highlights the most recent health articles and health news released on HealthFacts.Ng.
- Social media posts — videos or infographics that contain easy-to-understand educational content about common and trending health issues.
- Medical Outreaches – are organized by HealthFacts.ng in local communities to address community-specific pressing health issues through health talks, free medical consultations, and basic medical checkups.
- Reach and Impact: Attendees have described our HF live events as well needed, and our outreaches have recorded testimonials of attendees’ and community members’ needs being met. Our social media platforms have more than five thousand followers and subscribers across Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and WhatsApp. In the past year, our blog viewership was more than twenty thousand reads and visits. These testimonials and numbers speak of the many lives impacted by HealthFacts.Ng.
Profiles
Oluwapelumi Ala is a medical doctor and Operations Lead at HealthFacts NG. He manages HealthFacts’ teams and stakeholders. Dr. Ala bagged his medical degree from the prestigious University of Ibadan in 2024. He joined the organization in January 2023 as a blog content writer and published 90+ blog posts in his first year. Oluwapelumi writes compelling, well-researched, SEO-friendly medical and science articles and also functions as a graphics designer. In addition to his skills, he has interests in healthcare media and communication, recognizing the power of media in shaping public perception and understanding of health issues.
When asked why he enjoys working at HealthFacts NG, Oluwapelumi said: “Since I joined HealthFacts NG, I have been afforded the privilege to grow as a writer and a leader. I also appreciate what we do because we empower patients, healthcare professionals, and the general public with the knowledge that can save and preserve their lives.”
Iretiola Oluleye is a Video Editor at HealthFacts NG. She graduated with a Bachelor’s in English Language and Literature from Olabisi Onabanjo University (O.O.U). She specializes in transforming raw footage into compelling visual narratives that align with creative objectives.
Her current work involves delivering high-quality video content on health and wellness to address health needs. Her expertise extends beyond video editing to digital marketing, social media content creation, and copywriting, making her a versatile content creator.
Adebanjo Netufo is a final year medical student at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. He is a LEAP Africa Youth Leadership fellow, a former research intern at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, and an award-winning writer with multiple writing awards at national and international levels. In line with his interest in healthcare communications as a viable tool for bridging health inequality gaps, he currently works as a content writing intern at HealthFacts NG, where he collaborates with other members of the content writing team to develop content for web articles and social media videos, geared towards helping people make informed decisions about their health. He particularly enjoys the entire HealthFacts atmosphere, as it provides opportunities for exchanging and expressing ideas.
Bankole Adegboye is a medical professional with a solid educational foundation and a keen interest in health-related topics. He studied Medicine and Surgery at Nigeria’s premier university, the University of Ibadan. Having recently completed his university education, he now aims to achieve higher education to further enhance his knowledge and skills in the medical field. Currently, Dr. Adegboye works as a Content Writer at HealthFacts NG.
This role has immensely broadened his understanding of healthcare and media. When asked why he enjoys working at HealthFacts NG, Bankole said, “I truly enjoy my time at HealthFacts, not only for the exposure it provides but also for the opportunity to collaborate with a wonderful team.
