I really can’t wait to be 50 years old. As exciting as that sounds to me, I also know that increase in age comes with its challenges. If you are 50 years and above or you know anyone who is above 50 years around you, you need to read this carefully. Here are the 4 quality blood test you need to take note of:
- DIABETES (BLOOD GLUCOSE TEST): If you have a history of diabetes in your family; if you are over weight or have a high blood pressure, then you need to go for a blood glucose screening test. If you are overweight or obese and you are between the age of 40-70, it’s highly recommended that you do a blood glucose test.
- Cholesterol Test Level (Lipid Panel): A lipid panel is part of a blood test that measures the level of cholesterol in your blood. If you have diabetes and bad cholesterol in your blood, that may increase your risk of heart issues.
- SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS (STI TEST): Whenever your doctor is asking you about your sexual life, don’t shy away from such questions or even tell a lie. Be real and open minded. Say it as it is. Your doctor is there to help you and not judge you. STIs are really prevalent and high amidst adults. If you are the type with multiple sexual partners, and you don’t usually use condom, please do let your doctor know about it. “The disease no dey show for face”.
- HYPOTHYROIDISM (TSH TEST): This disorder is mostly associated with adults, as its symptoms are hard to diagnose. If your TSH-Thyroid Stimulating Hormone test indicate high TSH, it means you have either hypothyroidism or you have an under-active thyroid.
