How to deal with Itchy scalp

Among other things, Itchy scalp can be very irritating, annoying and embarrassing. If not properly managed, itchy scalp can even lead to hair loss. It makes it difficult to maintain a hairstyle for ladies and even for guys. A fellow itching her/his scalp is never a welcome sight anytime, any day.

A  few major causes are:

Poor diet
Dandruff
Dry scalp
Excessive Anxiety
Poor hygiene and hair care
Infections: Viral, fungal.

You can decide to treat an itchy scalp with hair products, shampoo specially made for it or anti-dandruff products but then some of these products contain some harmful ingredients. This is the major reason why natural remedies are advisable coupled with the fact that they are relatively affordable. Some natural remedies are:

Tea Tree Oil has strong anti-fungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammation properties hence it is very helpful when treating itchy scalp. It can be mixed with a little shampoo (make sure it is healthy shampoo) and used to wash the hair daily or it can be used with vegetable oil and used for scalp massage.

Aloe Vera is another common hair friend. Mostly because of its moisturizing properties, remember dry scalp is one of the causes of itchy scalp so Aloe Vera helps to treat it by applying some Aloe Vera gel (the gel inside Aloe Vera) on the scalp and allowing it to sleep for 12 to 15 minutes before washing off.

Lemon Juice. Especially when the itching is linked to dandruff, Lemon juice is helpful in treating itchy scalp because of its antiseptic properties. You can apply it in its raw state or you mix it with yogurt, and then wash it off after about 10 minutes with a mild shampoo. You can do this daily for better results.

Coconut Oil is also a good hair moisturizer, hence a good treatment for itchy skin. It can be used by direct application of the oil to the scalp for about an hour before washing out. Massage the oil into the scalp when applying it, it can also be used to add extra sheen to the hair when styling.

Baking Soda. For a very long time, baking soda has been used to treat hair problems., it does this majorly by exfoliating. So, make a paste of baking soda and water and then directly apply it to the scalp, allow it for about 12 to 15 minutes and then rinse off with water.

The good thing about these remedies is that these products are readily available around, so go get one or more of these and treat your scalp if your have itchy scalp or unnecessarily dry scalp. You can also share these tips with those with itchy scalp. I hope this helps a lot!
