Dr. Amina Sani Bello, the First Lady of Niger state has initiated a free surgical camp for women with Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) in the state.
The camp which had over twenty women suffering from VVF across Niger state is aimed at improving the reproductive health of women in the state.
The free operation, an initiative of the governor’s wife was done in collaboration with the Sani Bello Foundation (SANBEL) which invited some VVF surgeons who from Kastina and Kano states.
Dr. Bello while speaking to newsmen at the General Hospital, Kontagora, said the aim was to proffer treatment for women who had this condition and had no money to be treated surgically, adding that curing them from this ailment will give them a better life.
According to her, “VVF is a terrible condition which usually affects women in the poor areas and because they are poor, it is difficult to get treatment.
