Positive thinking is not just about having a smile on your face at all times. It is is more of a mental attitude, it involves discipline, and a determined mindset.
It is a lifestyle in which you decide to look on the good side of life, one in which you expect good and favorable results. A positive mind waits for happiness, health and a good ending in any situation.
As humans, it is very easy for us to think negatively. Negative thoughts come easily to mind most times than positive thoughts. For instance, if you are suddenly faced with a life threatening situation, the first thing you most will likely do is panic or fear.
Fear, anger, panic are emotions that come easily to us; but what they do is: they narrow your view, they cause you to act irrationally and rashly, also, they could cause anxiety, mental, emotional and physical stress which inadvertently affect your health.
On the other hand, emotions like happiness, joy, love etc., makes one more hopeful and less anxious, leaving one with a broader and more hopeful outlook on life. Positive thinkers tend to approach obstacles in life more productively and have an easier time overcoming them.
It is important to know that positive thinking is not just about always waiting for the silver lining after the dark clouds, it is about having a positive attitude to life even when the clouds are dark. It is not just a wish or thought, it takes discipline, doggedness and determination to decide to live as a positive thinker.
It’s easy to blame circumstance, lack of opportunity, or whatever other excuse one can muster up. However, the most effective use of your time is to accept the fact that you are in control of your own mindset.
A positive mind breeds a positive life and vice versa. In the second part of this post, I’ll be sharing with you the health benefits of thinking positively.
