A new vaccine for the treatment of HPV, Human Papilloma Virus, has been developed by scientists. This HPV vaccine also protects against nine types of HPV of which seven of them are known for causing cervical cancer.
This new vaccine offers significantly greater protection than the current vaccine, which protects against only two cancer-causing types of HPV.
Gardasil 9, known to be the new vaccine is not just safe, but also offers a greater improved protection against cervical cancer and other types of cancer.
This development will eventually mean the need for less screening, as there would be a greater protection for women from the outset.
Researchers are still on the mission to discover methods which would completely eliminate cervical cancer and other HPV-related disease.
However, the development of the new HPV vaccine, Gardasil 9 makes an important step in that direction.
