As part of activities to mark this year’s World Glaucoma Week, the Guinness Eye Centre, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, begins free glaucoma screening for Nigerians.
This exercise started on the 6th of March and is to run through till the 12th of March, 2016 at the hospital’s eye centre.
Mr. Kelechi Otuneme, the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, stated that the programme was part of the Hospital’s Corporate Social Responsibility and geared towards helping to raise awareness for glaucoma which is known to be the second leading cause of blindness in the world.
Early detection is one of the preventive measures to prevent blindness from the disease. – he also stated.
